Rehabilitation of water-supply network, reconstruction and extension of the town of Vidin sewerage system

2013 - 2015

The project realization contract was signed on 4th November, 2013 in conformity with the FIDIC – Red Book Contract conditions, amended and supplemented by the Specific conditions of the Spatial Planning Act requirements and regulations. The project funding has been provided by Operational Programme Environment 2007-2013 (OPE).
The contract comprises technical activities on the town of Vidin water-supply and sewerage networks, in conformity with approved detailed designs and an issued construction permit for the following sub-sites:
• Rehabilitation of the water-supply network of the town of Vidin –
street pipelines along 39 streets within the territory of the town: replacement of the existing street water pipelines, of the buildings’ water pipeline branches and the water pipeline plumbing fittings. The total length of the water-supply network is 13 648 m and there are about 670 buildings’ water pipeline branches that are not included in the mentioned length. Three-layer high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes of 32 – 400 mm of diameters are  used.
• Reconstruction and extension of the sewerage network of the town of Vidin – comprising 44 streets in total within the territory of the town. The total length of the rehabilitated sewerage network is 16 501 m; respectively – 13 805 m of the street system, 2 650 m of pressure pipelines and more than 950 buildings’ sewerage branches. HDPE, PVC and GRP pipes are used, as follows:
• PVC pipes of  200, 315, 400, 500 round cross-section;
• High-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes of 630 mm in diameter for a sewerage pressure sewer;
• Glass-reinforced plastic pipes, round cross-section – DN 2 000 mm;
• Glass-reinforced plastic pipes, ovoid-shaped – DN B/H (width/ height, mm): 400/600, 500/750, 600/900, 800/1200, 900/1350, 1000/1500, 1200/1800, 1400/2100.

In Bulgaria this is the first project in which such pipes (GRP, ovoid-shaped) are used.

• Pressure canal of canal pumping station (CPS) No. 1 near the waste –water treatment plant
• Reconstruction of a canal pumping station (CPS) No. 1 and CPS No. 2  in the town of Vidin; it comprises replacement of the existing pumps, mechanical grids and the SCADA system, the architectural and construction part, and the electrical part.
